Seneca Soil & Water Conservation District
SDP was contracted to evaluate the existing yearly inspections and provide recommendations for methods to reduce inspection time and office redundancies that existed in reentering and managing the data. SDP created a field collection procedure, provided GPS Training, developed the geodatabase and designed and created an automated work order generation module working in ArcGIS that increased efficiency over 75%.
Medina County, Ohio
SDP was contracted by Medina County, Ohio to update their existing GIS data set to be in accordance with Ohio’s Location Based Response System (LBRS) program. This entailed creating a new 3d centerline using a combined GPS and Inertial Measurement Unit to locate the 1,568 miles of physical road centerline and then update the existing road segments with the new 3D lengths. SDP also verified the existing 65,000 addresses as well as using GPS to locate and additional 4,850 new structures along with populating the structure type and use.
Miramar Marine Base: San Diego, CA
This project was a ground survey of the above ground utility features and storm drainage system. SDP utilized Trimble RTK equipment to provide the ground control services during the aerial flight and for the GPS location and feature collection of all utility structures. SDP gathered all the storm water invert measurements. Total number of features RTK’d was approximately 12,000 and total inverts was over 1000.
City of Rock Springs, Wyoming
The Project was a city wide aerial photography and utility mapping project using RTK equipment. The project included the verification of existing feature coordinate data gathered from the aerial photography; the gathering all non-existing above ground utility feature locations and attributes; and storm water invert measurements. The total number of features RTK’d was approximately 4,500, with a total of 6,600 total features verified and 2000 inverts.
Photo Science/Columbia Gas
SDP was contracted to GPS the Road/RR/Water crossings for all of the Columbia Gas Transmission Lines North, East and South of Kentucky utilizing sub meter GPS technology. SDP developed the field procedure which entails locating approximately 12,000 crossings in a 7.5 month timeframe. The data will be used to align the aerial photography and to aid in the migration to an enterprise wide ArcGIS system.
SDP designed and created a Sign Inventory Geodatabase; Developed a Sign Inventory data collection tool that included photos; and collected over 3200 signs allowing the City to better manage the maintenance of those particular assets.
City of Manchester, Connecticut
The project consisted of utilizing Trimble RTK Equipment for the positional location and inverts of all storm water features. Approximately 8,000 features located.
SDP created sub-meter land base of the City of Dayton and surrounding suburbs including accurate road widths and street names. We completed a 1250 Mile GPS inventory of poles, cable lines, feeds etc. that was then digitized onto the land base. This digital information was then utilized to re-engineer an upgrade of cable services to the existing and potential customer base.
SPRINT Midwest
SDP developed a field mapping system that combined sub-meter GPS and handheld ranging lasers to map all of Sprint’s outside plant throughout their Midwest Service Territory. Over 750,000 structures were located along with the creation of 100,000 miles of road base in a 16-month time frame. The data was used to update the engineering drawing and work order management systems.
The project utilized our field mapping system of GPS and ranging lasers to map 80,000 electric utility structures along with the creation of 4,000 miles of road base. The data was processed, edited and verified in MetaMap software and then exported to GE Smallworld for final integration into the client’s GIS system.
Sanborn: Air Force Bases
SDP provided field support to Sanborn in the above ground utility location projects for various Air Force Bases across the country. The projects consisted of utilizing Trimble RTK equipment for the location of all utility structures and providing all invert measurements on storm water features. We completed the GPS Utility Surveys for twelve different bases across the country
City of Rock Springs, WY
The Project consisted of a field QC and verification of additional above ground utility features and a sign inventory. SDP developed a field application to automatically attach a photo taken of the structure as an attribute while in the field collecting the GPS location.
